black snow: a story of reproductive ability and domesticity

i was googling away today and found this great review of black snow at miss julie's hodgepodge

this line is clearly going to be the quote for the second edition: 'Male author, male protagonist in love with a woman at the height of her reproductive ability who drags her into domesticity. '

Black Snow by Jon Tattrie (Pottersfield, 2009). As a Halifax explosion literature expert (as it were) I had to read Black Snow to see how it fit into the romantic legacy of the disaster. Really, nothing new from a feminist aspect. Male author, male protagonist in love with a woman at the height of her reproductive ability who drags her into domesticity. However, the erratic but interesting structure of the novel and the sharp detail of the hero’s experiences in the trenches of the Great War make this a worthy read.
